History

Speight's AleHouses have become an intrinsic part of the history of Speight's

Speight’s is the Pride of the South and has traditionally been brewed at Speight’s Brewery since 1876. Situated on the same site today in Rattray Street, Dunedin.

Speight’s is a family of fine beers. While Gold Medal Ale is easily the largest of the brands, our craft range plays an important role in strategy. The craft range includes ales including Porter, Distinction, Pale, Pilsner and Summer Harvest. It offers loyal consumers a Speight’s for every occasion and to match every food type.

The latest addition to the family is Speight’s Summit Golden Lager. Launched in 2008, Speight’s Summit is a refreshing crisp lager targeted toward more urban males aged 22-35. Speight’s Summit will capitalise on the markets move toward lager style beers and will give Speight’s the opportunity to more effectively target urban markets such as Auckland which is vital to the future growth of the brand.

Despite the growth opportunities in the Northern region, Speight’s is still by far the biggest and strongest brand in the South Island.

The vision for the brand is to remain New Zealand’s Number One Beer and Speight’s will continue to receive significant marketing investment in the future to ensure that this vision is long lasting.
